Just catching up with the overnight play in Brisbane and kind of wishing I hadn't bothered: England all out for 157 in just 61 overs, tired old Glen McGrath having taken 6 wickets.
Australia have started their second innings and are currently 98 for 1 (giving them a lead of around 550). Something tells me England might just lose this one!

Pro Perhaps worth remembering that Australia won the first test in the last Ashes series, but it was England who came out on top. It'll be a hard ask to recover down-under, but not impossible.

I'd forgotten that. In fact, it featured for much of this sermon, now I think about it.
I'm not so much a cricket fan, but someone who can take a reasonably intelligent interest having absorbed a certain amount by osmosis from the obsessives I've been surrounded by over much of my life

Fingers crossed that history repeats itself and you'll find something positive in England's performances to use for future sermons: there's always fortitude I suppose, as a last resort.

It wasn't me preaching. It was a memorable sermon, not just for the Ashes, but the fact I saw a whole new side to the preacher, who until then had come across as shy and with little to enthuse about in life.
I could easily draw the parallels, and could have used them in a sermon of my own... but maybe not for the 35 minutes he so enthusiastically did.

Nice that the sermon was so memorable though.
I refuse to watch..its going to be a whitewash. I could tell as soon as they played their first test after the last ashes and got a good lamping in Pakistan that it wasnt going to go well.

England must be just about running out of ideas for a sport that they can take up with the hope of occasionally enjoy some success.
Ideas are floating around in this part of the world but I shall remain respectful and not discuss the matter any further. Amen

I see Graham wasn't too impressed by comments in the NZ press about Wales and this afternoon's game. No-one expects Wales to win of course, but nevertheless journalists should at least use a modicum of intelligence when constructing their pieces. Good luck to the All Blacks.

I woke up at 4am this morning and decided to switch on my radio to see how the cricket was going. I tuned in just as the Aussies were going out to bat! After hearing our score card and three overs of them batting I switched off!
As you know, football is my preferred sport but I keep in touch with the cricket although I am no expert on it.

Pro More misery this morning. As you may know Australia declared their second inning on 202 (for 1) and England are currently 244 for 4...
