Seasonal Blooms

I’ve mentioned the sometimes bizarre weather we seem to have experienced a couple of times recently and the fact that flowers that usually bloom in mid to late March have already been gracing our gardens and hedgerows with their bright colours...
IT’S FAR TOO EARLY, GET YOUR HEADS BACK DOWN!

One of my Spring favourites is these little guys and I never tire of seeing their sweeping carpets of blossom against the cold, hard greens of winter grass.

Snow Drops

I’m so pleased this lot survived the drought, torrential rain, frost and snow, but then being Snow Drops they are a hardy bunch.

snowdrops and bluebells - I love the way the carpet the ground - proloific breeders eh?

  Indeed they are, when in their natural surroundings.
  
  I'm quite a fan of bluebells too, but we'll have to wait a while to see them in their full glory.

They make the few snowdrops in our garden seem very meagre...and even I, who can scarcely tell a buttercup from a daisy, have noticed how early things are appearing!

    Not either of those things... could be interesting if I were, though... but I wouldn't be doubting climate change if I were.
    
    It's the higher temperatures and how few layers of clothes I've been wearing this winter that's made far more impression on me.
    
    It's just I'm not very observant of things like flowers... they're wasted on me... there's a terrible admission!

      I often think we walk around with our eyes closed, or just ignore those things not high on our agenda for the day.
      
      The higher temps have certainly brought things into focus for a lot of folk so maybe there’s light at the end of the tunnel as far as some local issues are concerned, but it’s the darn politicians who need educating as far as global warming is concerned.

        The strange bit is, a lot of the simple everyday things we've been doing for years... and considered odd for so doing! But then it was a saving money guise, not an environmental one..

Snowdrops are my favourite too, i have 3 in my garden! I`m very, very proud of them because out of 100 bulbs, only 1 little plant grew......they`re difficult to grow from bulbs apparently (well that`s my excuse anyway!)

My sister replanted my Mum's snowdrops but the snow kept her out of Wales and I don't think they'll last until she visits in March

  Mine are already looking a tad brown around the edges, so I doubt they will either. Shame though, especially in your Mum's case. You could always take a photo to show her...

    I thought of that! I don't have digital camera and the thing with other type is you have to use up film... I shall put in a cosmic order for a digital camera I think...

I know I promised to visit a couple of hours ago but Blog World has gone into slow motion for me with pages taking up to 30 seconds to load!

I like the way the snowdrops look fresh and pretty next to those old stones.
