  They're the remains of an old lime-kiln. Nature has literally reclaimed it, destroying the chimney and almost grassing over the hole. Quite an amazing example of man-made objects being restored to the wild.
  
  There are often sheep in the field and you can see where they've used the stoke holes as shelters against the weather; otherwise I suspect the entrances would be overgrown too.

    ah...we have things like that along the edge of the Downs...they being chalk i suppose.....yes I love it when manmade structures meld into nature....

More excellent photos. I like the composition on these. My favourites are Land Reclamation and Secret Cow. Hope the cows are enjoying their game of hide and seek.
