  • Absent without leave?

    I may appear that I haven’t been around much recently, but in fact I have been popping in and out from time to time and even though I haven’t been blogging a lot myself I have been reading, making the odd comment, etc.

    My absence, if indeed absence it is, has been self imposed; I’ve been busy doing other things and decided to restrict the amount of time I spend in my virtual world; no reflection on you guys, but there are only so many hours in a day.

    Anyway, since a few of you good people have queried my health/sanity/work-ethic I thought I’d just bung a quickie on here and wish you all

    A Funky Sunday!

    See y’all around folks...

  • It's turned out nice again...

    Inspired by a conversation overheard, while queuing in my local post office, between two elderly ladies who had obviously dressed for rain and found it’d turned out nice again...

    British Weather

    Rain against the window pane,
    Sun peeks from behind cloud again.
    Snow falls and lays in layers crisp,
    Rivers and valleys swathed in mist.
    Dense fog is but a memory past,
    Hail stones drop, but do not last.

    Our weather is so fresh and varied,
    No wonder conversations star it;
    Being British means we must complain
    With every change from sun to rain.
    Each day we turn to friends and say,
    “The weather’s really bad today.”

    Never satisfied it seems,
    Perfect weather in our dreams,
    Sunny days and balmy nights,
    Clear horizons, beautiful sights;
    Dear friends will we never learn?
    Temperate weather always turns.
