On my soapbox – again!

I’ve blogged about this topic before so apologies if you think I’m simply repeating myself, but this is something I feel very strongly about. I’m talking about fly-tipping here...

One of the things that really hacks me off is the casual dumping of trash on any vacant piece of ‘waste’ ground. Not only is it illegal, it’s frequently dangerous, not good for the environment, completely unthinking, visually disturbing and downright offensive!

So why do people do it? Well I’m buggered if I know. There are FREE municipal refuse facilities in this area and the git who decided it would be wise idea to dump this lot must have driven right past one to get to his/her chosen location; what a wanker!

If it was up to me the people who do this sort of thing would be stood against a wall and summarily shot...

    We had a real problem with it where I was before mostly becasue the little road when they dumped stuff didn't register on the Council maps and we had a fight every time to get them to come out. (think I blogged about it before you were reading my blog...I know it was the first post I did that got some good response.) There was the incident of the pink toilet by our back gate. They even came the next day to bring the toilet seat to match...
    
    I am one of these fearsome small women who will give people their rubbish back if I see them dropping it on the street. Apparently my glare is getting better, according to someone who's seen it develop over manay years.

      I wish I had one of those glares; I just get angry and shout at people (which doesn't help really).

        I do angry, too which sometimes works... but angry didn't work with my brothers, so finding alternative methods was essential.
        
        Fly-tipping, mobile phones in quiet zones on trains, music blaring out on buses/trains, cyclists on pavements... yep, I could make all of those missions for me to be a missionary for!!

        We're very much on the same wavelength here.
        
        As a cyclist myself, I get pretty peeved by the antics of those who give the rest of us a bad name (not stopping at traffic lights or zebra crossings, riding on the pavement, riding three abreast and stopping the traffic flow, etc.)
        
        Maybe we should make this a joint mission...

        I have been a cyclist, and would be one again if knees hadn't mitigated against it, (it's not my fault, it's the way I was made!!) and I certainly stuck to the rules of the road. I also outright refuse to move for cyclists on pavements - I may end up getting run over one day...

        Can only do early mornings and evenings next week - am spending the afternoons helping to keep parents sane, children fully occupied and me with absolutely no reputation left whatsoever.

No need to apologise. We have a gate to our field on what has become a rat run between Lyme and Uplyme, and is consequently a handy spot to deposit builders' rubble, garden waste, old carpets, a sack of porn mags, and umpteen contents of car ashtrays and food wrappers.

We wish foul and terminal diseases upon those mindless louts that do it. So far, no-one has dropped dead of arsehole pox, sadly.

If I knew who'd done it, I'd dump it in their gardens, the bastards.

  Doing a dump in the offender's garden would give me great pleasure in many ways too, but sadly it also means we'd be stooping to their low level. It must be a real bugger for you getting dumped on like that though.

You should see my glare!

I've been out and about perfecting it

The other day I was stood outside my bank which is next to a tobacconists. A car drove up and was parked on the disabled spot. (Cue glare no.1!)

The driver (full mobile and without a significant disabled bodied person in tow!) (Cue glare no.2) got out of the car and went into the shop.

She came out with a packet of ciggies unwrapping it as she walked and discarded the cellophane wrapper on the pavement. (Cue glare no.3 along with a tut to a horrified passer-by!).

The driver got back into her car and continued unwrapping her ciggies and tossed the silver paper out of her car window. (Cue glare no.4!).

She then lit up her ciggie, revved up her motor and sped off in a haze of smoke - this time the car not the ciggies! (Cue a final glare and tuts to several more by-standers!)

It's time like these that I wish I was fluent in the language. Had I been in the UK I would have spoken up at the first bit of litter!

This along with those who chose to empty their car ashtrays whilst sat in their cars waiting for hubby/wifey/kiddes also get my goat.

Now you've really got me going!

Shot? Well, i wouldn't shot them but yes they should have a BIG lesson!
All over the world we see that, although around here in Portugal people and ours streets and roads are very clean, there's a lot to do yet bcz those type of people we have them everywhere! Shame on them!

  Shame indeed Kiki. Dumping (fly tipping) is a very real problem here in the UK. I wish I had an answer to it.

    Well if instead Blair spent so many men and money with the Iraqui stuff ( war )..in UK's case .. and had used it to improve the country, maybe that problem wouldn't exist, as now the horrible floods!

I'm not so sure about the shooting bit, but the local authority should have a phone-line number for people to be able to give car reg. numbers of those fly tipping, and then maybe people would think twice about it. It's just down to sheer laziness. Stay calm though...

This happens because the tips charge businesses - or rather anyone in a van - to dump.

Therefore unscrupulous (sp) people who do work in your house save cash by dumping.
