The Severn Bridge

A nice bright sunny day so I decided I’d go and play with my camera, the old Severn Bridge and the sun.

This bridge is still quite elegant despite the aging process and the almost constant maintenance that is now required.

Since the opening of the Second Severn Crossing, the original bridge no longer carries the main motorway link between England and Wales.

Unlike the Second Severn Crossing, which has no pedestrian walkway, you can walk or cycle the couple of miles between Wales and England via this bridge. :yes:

  So you have, but unlike the bridge's maintenance programme it's not strictly required...

And will shut down and not be used in high winds lol!

It is really scary going over it when it is windy anyway lol

  I quite like walking over it when there's a good wind blowing; very invigorating.

I always enjoy seeing your pics of the Severn Bridge. Apparently my parents walked across the bridge when it first opened, pushing me in my pram. Dafter beat me to it with the comment I was going to make!

  As modern bridges go, I rather like it. I guess I must have photographed the thing a few dozen times.
  
  If you're ever back in this area take a hour or so out and walk the bridge yourself: you'll enjoy it if you do.

There is something quite different when you are on the waterside under the bridge. So that's were you went on Tuesday

  Yes I was down at Beachley around 9:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. Then got a phone cal and spent the next several hours going back and forth to RGH with Mum. Unavoidable unfortunately.
