Well I never: I have a piece of pink Penarth alabaster on my shelf. (I used to go out with a boy who lived there when I was a student, and as a geologist, couldn't resist keeping a specimen - the rock, not the boy.)
Aah - happy days of sun, sea, too much Brains, and youthful irresponsibility...-

Ah Brains... SA or Dark?

There's not as much of that nice alabaster around these days, except in people's gardens...

Probably SA: but I was too drunk to remember ...
It was only about 13p a pint though - which was good.-

Careful now: 13p a pint for Skull Attack gives your age away...

At least I can remember the price after we went decimal (just!)
But I know you are a real gent - and won't draw undue attention to this lady's age...-

Actually there was a wondeful piece I'd have liked to bring home, but it was way too big and with people about...

Once my ex-OH and I went on a 'dinasaur/fossil walk at Penarth and were only unaccompanied adults!
I have lovely pink piece of alabaster as door stop -taken in the days before everyone was nicking rocks!
Also have lovely rock with fossil.-

I seem to remember reading about your fossil walk...
It's about a grand a rock now if you get nicked 'borrowing' a rock from the beach!
