Its not the webs you have to worry about - its the size of those spiders!

That's true... not sure they can be any larger the big hairy thing that ran across the lounge carpet last night though!

Lovely atmospheric photo - large menacing spider webs! Is there any knack to capturing those webs like that? Whenever I try to photograph them they seem to fade into the background. Yours are amazing!

Well, tricks of the trade and all that...
If you're taking pictures of webs in your garden, carry a spray gun and spray the webs with water; this 'thickens' the web strands and gives the web some density. If you're shooting in the wild, early morning dew will do the job for you.
Adjust your shooting angle if possible so available light 'bounces' back from the web. Alternatively use your camera in 'fill-in' flash mode and bounce artificial light off the web.
Try to ensure you have a some density behind the web; photographing webs against the sky is a mistake unless you have a very clever camera (or quality hand-held lightmeter).
Lastly, adjust the image contrast in your photo editor to 'highlight' the web.
Hope that's helpful?-

Very helpful, thanks Usky. (Now if I was painting a spider's web, I'd know exactly how to do that!
) I am really enjoying using my camera, it's great to play around with it, even if I don't always get the results I'm after. I love coming to your blog to see how it's done!

I think the day I stop enjoying with a camera will be the day I stop taking photographs... or pop my clogs... or maybe I'll already be dead, but didn't notice!

Turning into a dormouse then are we?

It's too warm for hibernation yet Ten.

Oh but it's a shame to waste such a wonderful day... which reminds me... what am I doing sitting here when I ought to be outside?

-
- Sunday, 04. Nov, 2007 @ 14:13:03
I've walked to church and back (twenty minutes each way!) and I can see the outside world... and I've got the window open, and me and two hot water bottles are taking ourselves to curl up under the duvet for the next couple of hours!!
I love outside - just not today!-

I love spider's webs...I just want to touch them, but I feel like a bulldozer over someone's home. It's not fair when people screw them up for fun, is it? Poor spiders!

I can tell its Autumn because The Needles foghorn sounds - very eerie. And the number of spider webs strung across the garden path, so that you get caught on your way out to dog walk. Love the photo, and the advice.
