Sounds good Lee; an interesting tree on a favourite walk.

The weather forecast is good for tomorrow and so I think I'll take the opportunity to go on the walk whilst the route is still unspoiled - construction of a windfarm is due to start in a nearby field in March.

Oh that's a blow... I have nothing against those turbines, but they sure can spoil a good landscape.

I'll only start supporting wind turbines when the first one is built on Hampstead Heath!

You'll have to wait a damn long time for that to happen...

Hehe, I think it's great when you get weird shaped trees, I'm always snapping them.

That's one of the things about trees isn't it? I never get bored looking at them.

Makes a great seat!

That's brilliant. The more gnarled and misshapen a tree, the more I think it's "special".

Yes I tend to think that way too - a person can sleep quite comfortably in this tree, or seat three adults.

Not the prettiest tree, I agree, but it does look comfortable if you would need to sit down for a rest!

I think it's just the most amazing shape. The tree's ability to act as a resting place is a bonus.

There's a rather spectacular 'lightning tree' along one of my favourite local walks. It's a pity I can't provide a photo.
