Good morning Blogland

Sunday... London Marathon day... a day when I was going to go walking... well I still might in fact... but I'm going to get soaked if I do... it's piddling down here today!

At least my feet will stay dry in my British Army Hi-Leg Combat Boots...
Actually I find these very comfortable on a long trek and far more durable than the more fashionable type of walking boot...

Of course the daughter has a different outlook on life... she likes something a bit softer underfoot...

I must admit I quite like these...

Dear Daughter however prefers her blue pair... oh well... cue Nancy Sinatra...

I have owned one pair of Doc Martins for about 20 years now and they have just died....I had the "slip on" type boot and they have seen a fair few walks and snowy and/or wet days out!

  As boots go DMs are pretty darn durable; just a shame perhaps they became the trademark footwear of certain violent members of our society. I'd have said 20 years was pretty good going though.

    I'm assuming you're not including the punk movement in 'violent members of our society' - we used to wear them as punks, and we were all jolly nice people! (mind you, the NF sabotaged a gig, and they did lay the boot in, really don't like them at all )

        I was Usky, hope that's not off-putting, we were all good people, and it was all good fun too, lots of party/gigs and stuff, nothing nasty. Although we did have trouble in Cwmbran once, but again, it wasn't any of our crowd, it was the local lads just doing their thing as there was bugger-all else to do but drink and fight. They'd actually invited the band over to play, then ended up with bottles and knives and the police getting involved. Not nice. Puts me right off the place.
        
        It was Skins that sabotaged the first gig I mentioned, but judging by their Nazi saluting and chants of however you write 'zeik heil', I think they had some NF sympathies!
        
        Who were the Boot Boys?

        Hiya Usky. I've been reading blogs and ignoring emails so I'm sorry there's been a few days between comments.
        
        I didn't know how you felt about such things, what experiences you've had or how you deal with them, so just didn't know. I can't remember punks getting any bad press. I don't think any punks were like the Boot Boys. I remember being at a match, blood flowed, and I think it was Chelsea, if they played Rovers in the late 70's-early 80's. I still won't associate with football hooligans, nor NF supporters.
        
        You went to school in Cwmbran! Well I'm glad you survived Usky!

        I've never understood hooliganism in any form; makes no difference to me how the perpetrators are dressed.
