I really love the colour of the petals in this aquilegia... I only wish the depth of blue lasted once the bloom was fully opened.

I've always liked lilac... used to have two at the bottom of my garden... one white the other mauve... always gave a wonderful splash of colour.

There's a downside to them though... in an enclosed space they can easily take over... and pruning the tops seems to encourage runners to spread out from the roots, so you end up having to take counter measures... nightmare...

Well I've no idea what's going on....

I seem to have suddenly come over all tired and sleepy....

I think I might have to close my eyes for a little nap...

Saturday morning and the time is fast approaching 6:00am... I've already been up for an hour or so, answering emails and blog comments, and watching the early birds doing their thing in the garden.

The Sparrow family seem particularly boisterous this morning, for no apparent reason... it's just grey and dull out there, so I wouldn't have thought there was too much to shout about.

One of the Blackbirds is busy with his morning ablutions between the yellow flag irises... I think it must be Jack, he always likes a morning splash.

Oh well.... perhaps I ought to get myself a coffee and kick-start my brain...
