  • I started... so I'll finish

I started today with a big old rusty pic and I'm going to end the day with one too.

    DSC_3619

This was someone's pride and joy once... this Renault thingy... though I don't suppose anyone much wants it now, eh? Just as well really... I think they'd have one heck of a job starting it! :))

    G'night all!

  • Playing with light

Okay I've had my rant for the day... now it's time to play.

While I was out yesterday I couldn't resist having a bit of fun with the sun, a lump of rock and a contra-jour shot...

What do you think? Too much? Not enough? I know contra-jour isn't to everyone's taste.

  • Name & Shame

Is there still such a thing as Name & Shame in the UK? If there isn't, there damn well ought to be!

Look... I was walking through the woods and taking pictures of bluebells... and I was really rather enjoying myself... you follow?

    Then this...

    DSC_3622DSC_3624DSC_3628

Disgusting, isn't it? Why do people do things like this? For God's sake take it to the tip, don't just dump it!

But wait... what's this I spy?

    DSC_3627

My oh my... trash dumped by a moron... :))
What's more trash dumped by a moron who drove over 12 miles and passed 2, yes TWO municipal dumps to do it...

    Well Mrs G M O'Neill of
    13 Llyswen Walk
    Llanyravon
    Cwmbran

Let me give you a small tip....

The next time you decide to go fly-tipping, don't be stupid enough to dump a packet of photographs containing images of you and your little girl and with your name and address written all over the outside of it... you selfish, unthinking, environment destroying idiot! :##

  • Foxhunter

I wonder how many of you have heard of, or possibly remember, Foxhunter the champion show jumper?

Foxhunter was owned and ridden by Henry Morton Llewellyn, known as 'Harry'.

    Sir Harry Llewellyn & Foxhunter
    Harry Llewellyn & Foxhunter

Harry Llewellyn's contribution to British showjumping, first as a rider and later as an administrator, is inestimable. With his great horse, Foxhunter, he forged a famous partnership in the late 1940s and early 1950s, winning nearly every grand prix in Europe. Their total of 78 wins in the five years from 1947 included winning the King George V Gold Cup an unprecedented three times. A team bronze medal at the 1948 Olympic Games in London was followed by a team gold medal at the Helsinki Olympics four years later, which heralded a new era in British showjumping and helped to establish the sport in the public's imagination.

The gold medal won at the 1952 Olympics in Helsinki was Great Britain's only gold medal. A nation found solace and comfort in being identified with not Harry M. Llewellyn, Foxhunter's rider, but with the horse itself.

    Foxhunter Memorial - The Blorenge

Following Foxhunter's death a memorial was erected on top of The Blorenge, a high hill overlooking Abergavenny, where the Llewellyn family had once owned land.

Foxhunter was born on my mother's birthday and won his Olympic gold medal in the year of my birth... other than that I have no ties with the dead animal, but I thought you might find this interesting.

  • Rusty Usky Morning

    Good morning all...

It's a beautiful morning here in Wales again today... the sunshine always makes me feel happier in my heart... so I'm smiling again today...

How's this for a bit of Rusty Usky?

    DSC_3621

Don't you just love the contrast between rusty panel and green grass? Light and shade? Deep black shadows... no? Oh well, it must just be me then! :))

Have a lovely day all
