  • A Day Out - a photo-story pt. 6

    New readers start here.

Okay, okay I know you're all bored to tears with this now, but this is the last part... for now... honest... I promise...

It seems Chipping Campden has a penchant for decoration...

This is obviously Uncle Tom's Village Pump.
(Archer's fans will understand - ask one!)

And I guess Polly lives here... :))

    DSC_3823

Hmmm.... this isn't the village pump... it's plastic!

    DSC_3824

And then there are these rather lovely alms houses...

    DSC_3825

Okay that's it.... end of this tour... no more until next time... unless you ask nicely of course. :>>

    See 'all!

Chipping Campden it was and here's the garden where we lunched...

Don't be fooled by the apparent dullness, the sunshine was waiting in the wings.

    Chipping Campden's well known landmark...

    DSC_3818

    ...the old Market Hall.

    DSC_3819

Little wonder Chipping Campden is regarded as one Britain's prettiest towns.

    More to come soon... ;)

  • A Day Out - a photo-story pt.4

    New readers start here.

This is the town where we decided to stop for some lunch... can anyone identify the location from these few images?

Incidentally we didn't pop into any of the available pubs or taverns for lunch.... instead we nipped into this establishment for fabulous sarnies which we ate sitting in the sunshine beside a very famous landmark... ;)

So where were we? Anyone know?

Join me later for part 5 to find out... :)

  • A Day Out - a photo-story pt.3

    New readers start here.

Leaving Stow behind us, we drove the short distance to Morton in Marsh and immediately stepped backwards in time.

The old Toll House is still standing...

    DSC_3804

Though its board is cracked and dry...

    DSC_3806

And just look at those tolls too; fancy being charged five bob for a spot of swinging... 8|

Note the name of the collector... trust a Page to rake in the cash! :))

To the best of my knowledge this was my first visit to Morton. My colleague had childhood memories of a popular burger van in the locale, offering a welcome break for travellers.

Neither of us were sure, but we believe this might have once been a school.

And for those days when things go wrong and the body needs mending, here is the Doctor's Surgery.

Join us again soon when my blog chum and I move on for some lunch. :)
