Making some effort to blend in
@ Tuesday, 01. Jul, 2008 – 06:00:00
This is an image of one of Newport's NCP owned multi-story car parks...
Now I'm no lover of car parks, although they do serve a useful purpose. By and large though they tend to be concrete monstrosities that easily qualify for one of Charlie's carbuncles.
For me it's always nice to see that some effort has been made to blend a new car park into its surrounding environment and that's exactly why I'm featuring this car park here.
The use of brick to break-up the blandness of the concrete works well don't you think? Just imagine though how much nicer this box structure would have been had the architect used even more brick to clad the concrete and add further colour to the building.
Oh I know it would have increased the construction costs, but let's be fair the owners are making a fortune out of the motorists need to abandon their cars for a couple of hours while visiting the city centre...
So now a message to town planners everywhere...
Come on guys; go the extra yard and prove how great you are as architects, designers and planners by not leaving us with a concrete carbuncle.

I've never understood why we're supposed to say this on the first of the month... anyone got any ideas?
In case it passes good luck to all and sundry...
White Rabbits!
