Mr Penry never takes me to classy restaurants... though he does occasionally treat me to a meal in a dark coaching inn full of shadows, logs fires etc.
I suspect my idea of high cuisine is three hot cross buns up the Eiffel Tower....

It's true... like the time he smuggled a large bench into the garden as an anniversary present even though I was in the house at the time... I didn't know a thing about it until much much later in the day!

Fry some chopped turnips and carrots. Add a little stock and a glass of red wine. Place some starlings or other small birds in the pan. Add a thin purée of boiled potatoes mashed with beaten eggs, dry mustard, and some stock and a little beer. Cover with stock and cook for about 30 minutes, adding some ripe olives near the end
