Well it's good to be back at last, from a couple of days enforced absence. At some stage on Wednesday evening/night we lost our telephone line, so no communication with the outside world (except via mobile 'phones).

Had no idea of course the line was down until Thursday morning, but were hot off the mark to report the fault once we'd realised. Have you ever used the automated fault service offered by BT? It is complete and utter crap!

The automated system decided there was no fault on our line and disconnected... it suggested we went online and used the Internet service!

The manned 'phones, when they eventually opened, were rather more helpful... except an offer was made to divert all incoming calls to a mobile... yes please... did it happen? Did it buggery!

The fault, we were told on Thursday morning, was external to our property... it would be sometime on Friday before an engineer would be available to investigate. What time on Friday? Oh before 5:00pm because that's when the finish for the weekend...

Okay the fault is now fixed and things are back to normal, but how frustrating to be without a telephone line and Internet access for the best part of 40 hours in the same week when BT announced they were axing 10,000 jobs!
