The contnued spread of the Irish Pub
@ Monday, 03. Nov, 2008 – 18:29:23
It seems wherever you go these days it is difficult to escape the themed Irish Pub... sadly of course none are like the wonderful pubs you find in Ireland!

Vilamoura has two such establishments, O'Neills and Irish & Co, both offering (IMHO) second rate food and drinks to the masses.
Note O'Neills on the right... though of course you can't see that sign in this photo.
Don't get me wrong I'm not knocking the people who flock to these places, if folk want to eat and drink in them that's fine with me, but personally I prefer to eat 'local' food when abroad. I'd recommend anyone travelling to Portugal to try the Caldeirada de Peixe; a kind of fish stew if you will... a Portuguese Bouillabaisse... it is truly amazing and so cheap should not be missed!

Vilamoura Marina
@ Monday, 03. Nov, 2008 – 17:27:13
I mentioned the Marina at Vilamoura yesterday and thought it might be fun to share with you a few images of the floating gin palaces and opulence enjoyed by the privileged few...

There were hundreds of beautiful craft at Vilamoura and most of them would have raised a very pretty penny... I couldn't help but wonder what the total value of those boats would be. It made me think back to the recent Blog Action Day's campaign to end World poverty.
