The village press

I mentioned the village press at Redwick yesterday and promised to post a few images...

...so here they are.

As you can see, there are two pieces of ageing machinery here, a mill for grinding wheat etc and a press for extracting juices. Wouldn't it be great to know how many people have used these over the years?

Oh yes many and many people used it! Here in Portugal we still see those mills, very antique/ancient ones, some..most indeed

    i love it too a LOT, that's why i changed from laws to Scientific History at the University, since a child i always loved everything related with history, it's fascinating yes

      I would love to have worked in a historic area... anthropology would have been my ideal I think. Archaeology interests me too, but to study the cradle of life itself must be such a wonderful thing to do. I make do with more recent history of course and am happy.
      
      Lucky for me there so many historic sites around here, so I can always find somewhere interesting to go.

Interesting, I only just caught up with this posting.

I don't think the mill is for wheat, more likely a seed crusher. Of course I may be wrong, but we have a lot of wheat mills in Norfolk and none of them are like that.

Did they grow linseed or some other oily seed in the area?
