Beside a river, beneath a wood
A Cistercian abbey of fame once stood.
Beyond the bridge, askance the road
From a lowly church did Tintern grow.
Hardly Wordsworth I know, but rather like old Bill I also admire Tintern Abbey and its beautiful valley location.
What was it Wordsworth said when standing beside the abbey?
Do I behold these steep and lofty cliffs,
That on a wild secluded scene impress
Thoughts of more deep seclusion; and connect
The landscape with the quiet of the sky.
Well you can't see much of the cliffs now because the trees have colonised wherever they can, but the rocky crags are still there and just as impressive now as they always have been if you follow the footpath and climb to Devil's Pulpit...
I recommend a visit if you happen to be in the Chepstow/Monmouth area
