Let me introduce you to Alice... despite her somewhat dowdy appearance, she's really quite a lady.

Alice
Now my guess is if I just showed you this image you'd take a glance and say, oh yeah that's a neat old lugger or something equally nondescript...
But what if I told you the image had been heavily edited? Maybe then you'd look a little more closely... what would you see?
Perhaps it would help if I showed you my original shot... I hasten to add here I'd always intended to edit this image.

Alice was moored adjacent to the Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth and was surrounded by 'stuff' that I felt detracted from her uniqueness. I sat and looked at the original image and worked out an editing plan... an hour later I had the above result... not perfect by any means, but not too shabby... at least it kind of shows what I'd originally intended.
What do you think?

I sorta like having the original to look at as well, so I can take in all the differences

I like it. BUT obviously it's not a "photograph" but an illustration of the vessel. A subtle difference, each version having their own truths: One being the capture of a moment, the other being a visual essay on the subject.
