This is another fleeting visit from me with a few words of thanks for all the wonderful messages of sympathy and support received these last few difficult days... believe me your thoughts and good wishes are most welcome.
Despite having so many other things on my mind I have still managed to carry a camera occasionally and capture the odd image. Here are a couple I shot last week, which seem somehow appropriate just now...

Pro Yes they're really beautiful aren't they? The perfect backdrop for a picnic (or something better) in the country. 
That explains it... I thought I saw you post and was going to comment a 'thank you' on it... and when I couldn't find it, I assumed I must've dreamed it!
Driving back from the hospital today today..I came across a whole field full of poppies..Was an amzaing site..I wish I had my camera on me! would nbe the perfect location for a picnic..Or better ..I'll take you there on your next visit..

One of my neighbours has the BIG poppies they are lovely,i have wee orange ones which are cute xx

Pro I have some of the big red ones too, but somehow the smaller ones seem much more natural to me... more as Nature intended.

You won't believe this usky but I went off with hubs to take a picture of a magnificent poppy field that blooms each year just outside our town we drove over on Sunday, you round the corner and there is usually a field just full of red poppies, a sea of crimson red, it's so lovely and this year , not one flipping poppy to be seen! Couldn't believe it 
your pics are gorgeous, did you know that either my grandads sister or my grans sister can't rememebr which was actually christened Poppy Flanders?

Poppies are making a big comeback around here; I guess farmers are using less chemical sprays or something, but it makes me so happy to see all those little red faces smiling at me as I pass by the fields. Sorry to hear your local poppy field is devoid of colour this year.

Poppies were always a favorite in my garden. The colour brings to mind my Mom, she was just goofy about the colour red. I miss her and my poppies. Thanks for evoking the memories.

Oh, they are so beautiful and sad, Usky. Thank you my dear. I have not seen a real Poppy since I left England in 1960. Makes me think of Gallipoli as you well know. Beauty in sorrow. JW
