Walking around Wallsend early one morning last week I spotted this rather lovely piece of Victoriana close to the Segedunum Roman Fort, Baths & Museum.
Oh yes, the clock still works and yes I was out taking pictures before 6:00am that morning!

Wonder if that clock chimes on the hour?.. Bet the workers got pissed of if it did .. I hear the church clock chiming bright and early every sunday.. I love it.. Not!

Ours chimes every hour from 8am till midnight..
And then bell ringing early sunday morning!! And Im a good girl.. Or at least I will be if they promise to shut up

Wonderful picture in that perfect light.
This 'get-up at dawn' thing with men is the throwback to the cave days. Men had to get-up early and kill the beast. So the women could gnaw on the skins, (to soften for clothing), and to prepare the meat for the evening group feast.
'Tis also spoken that the male hormones are at their peak that time, (4:00 a.m.), of the 24-hour cycle! Best time to start a family - so it is said.
