my favourite outdoor activity...strolling...anywhere really, even along roads, looking at other people's houses and gardens and talking...not many chances, apart from the heath, to find places like you've shown us....
But do have the seashore so that makes up for it...
Have a lovely day, Usky...GBHs...XXX-

If only the weather was more trustworthy... this island of ours would be a wonderful place to holiday. I know, I shouldn't complain...

We've holidayed in the UK lots of times and have been very fortunate with the weather nearly every time...
The UK is truly beautiful....green and lush...

I think I'd be prepared to put up with the often inclement weather if it weren't so darn expensive to do things here... theme parks and the like are such rip-offs, but with kids in tow and a wet day there isn't always much alternative.
You're right about this green and pleasant land of ours though.

Oh, you're right there...it is rip off Britain...what irritates the hell out of me is that foreign tourists can get much better deals than we can! I find that amazingly stupid of the holiday business in the UK...there are so many beautiful places we'd love to visit here but even the fares to get there are ridiculously expensive...we could travel half way across the world for what it costs us on the trains to get from A to B here...hmmm...deep sighs...we never learn...

Oh you've noticed that then? Yes, it's extremely frustrating from a UK resident's point of view... made worse I think by the railway's blithely announcing the first UK train fare to top the £1,000.00 mark last week... who in their right mind is going to pay a grand to get from Penzance to Scotland? Completely crazy!

It's reached the point of absurdity...we got to Barcelona by coach for £56 each way for 2...we had to pay £120 to get to the Lake District!! Trains were out of the question...we really are a very stupid country!....One journey from London to Edinburgh costs around £200 and an American and probably any foreign traveller can get a rail pass for around £180 which will last three weeks of train journeys anywhere in the country!...GBHs...XXX

My point exactly... I can fly to Portugal, stay in some great accommodation for a week, rent a car to get about, and all for the price of a train ticket to London!

It is, but then again it makes for a cheap holiday in the sun and some great seafood!
